After a two-year absence from the show, the mythical being known only as John Hardin has joined us once again. For those new to the show, John is the PR manager for Atlus USA and Sega. He’s been on in the past, but this is the first time he’s been on and can talk openly about Persona 5. So buckle up and join us for Episode 71!
With Andrea, Ron, and Serah banished to the shadow realm; it’s up to Kyle and Cheska to save the day. On this episode we talked about Star Ocean Integrity and Faithlessness and Tokyo Mirage Sessions. And of course, we touch on our trip to E3 2016. We also debuted a new format with this one, so let us know what you think about it!
When you’re taking part in a passion project like S.Link FM, there comes a time where you have to either change things up, or lay it to rest. In the case of this podcast, we’re doing the former. Yes you may have seen this coming, but it’s official now: S.Link FM is switching from solely a Persona podcast to a more all encompassing RPG show.
Let’s be clear about this though: We still love Persona, the show wouldn’t have gone on two years if we didn’t. However after 50+ episodes, it’s getting a little difficult to come up with new topics that are entirely Persona-focused. We love a ton of RPG franchises from Final Fantasy to Mass Effect, and to keep things fresh(and fun) we decided to make this change.
So hopefully you’ll stick with us as we change things up. Listen to the latest episode below to hear the team’s thoughts more fully.
It’s really hard to believe, but after almost two years we’ve made it to Episode 50! Much to our good fortune, Persona 5 also received an incredible new trailer too. This episode is fulll of analysis, speculation, and predictions regarding Persona 5.
5 hosts, 5th game, 50th episode. Not much else to say, get hype.
If you call yourself a Persona fan, chances are you’ve found yourself surrounded by the “waifu” phenomenon at one point or another. Idol worship has practically become synonymous with anime and a lot Japanese games as a whole by fans, and Persona is no exception.Though it’s fascinating to consider how much of that culture is a product of the community, and how much of it is deliberately encouraged on the part of the developers. On this episode of S. Link FM, we discuss the economics surrounding around best girl. (Yes, this episode is just as ridiculous as the description suggests)
There’s a lot of varying opinions as to what qualifies a story as “mature”, and few places will have more divergent thoughts on the matter than Persona fandom. So in this episode, we bring together a panel of very Mature™ individuals to discuss Mature™ things. Are you tried of hearing the word “mature” yet? Hopefully not, or else you wont make it far into this episode.
Chances are, if you listen to this podcast, you probably saw the fake Persona 5 Seek Emancipation trailer that came out earlier this week. What many were hoping to to be a bold new direction for the Persona series ended up being just a cruel April Fools Joke, and we were behind it all. In this Episode, we go into detail as to how we created this beast.
(Apologies in advance that I didn’t read off your quesitons on the podcast, I completely forgot) -Levito
Our very own TrueSelf seems to have stumbled upon something huge today. In what was just supposed to be a search to find the Persona 5 announcement trailer, he found a NEW trailer for Persona 5– one that not only highlights a new grim tone to the project, but even unveils a release date for the game! From the YouTube description:
Someone is coming, crawling back from the Sea of Souls… But will he use his power to bring about absolute Order, or ultimate Chaos? Use your bonds of friendship to break free from the shackles of life– only the power of Persona can save, or doom, all of humanity!
Get ready for the game IGN calls “The Dark Souls II of Shin Megami Tensei”– Persona 5 is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo 3DS on March 17, 2015! Seek Emancipation and pre-order today to receive the “Grimdark Costume Pack” and “Dante Must Die Mode,” exclusively from GameStop!
This is pretty unbelievable news, no one expected Persona 5 to actually go in this direction. After all, Persona 4 was all “Scooby Doo”– this, on the other hand, is very mature and grown up. The Persona game we all wanted is coming.
This trailer is very dark, and violent. So please be aware that this is a NSFW kind of trailer.
It’s not often you get to speak to a Japanese-English translation savant, but this past weekend, we did just that. On Episode 27 of S. Link FM, we got to sit down with the man, the myth, the legend–Pepsiman.
Pepsiman has been doing a lot of various translation work on Persona content for quite some time now. The most well known of his work being the English translation of the Katsura Hashino interview from Persona Magazine. So if you want to be educated on the translation from by a master, tune into this episode.
By now, you’ve probably seen the lengthy interview with Katsura Hashino from last December’s Persona Magazine. Most western fan where not privy as to what the contents of the interview entailed, well, that is until freelance English-Japanese translator and Persona fan Pepsiman was kind enough to do a full translation of the interview.
Pepsiman has been doing various translation work for some time now, and he’s been especially awesome to the Persona community as of late. So we thought it’s be cool to have him on the podcast, and low and behold–it’s happening!
So if you have any questions for Pepsiman regarding his work, or just translation work in general, please leave a comment below! This is your chance to get advice from a pro. It all goes down on the 27th Episode of S. Link FM.
For the final podcast of 2013, we settled on a bit of a mixed bag of ideas this episode. We discussed a little bit of news, went over our GOTY’s of 2013, and gave predictions pertaining to all the Persona titles being released next year.
Also, many thanks to all of you that listened and contributed to the show this year. S.Link FM has alread become far bigger than any of us had anticipated and it’s been a fucking blast. This is surely just the beginning of something great.
Hope you all have a Happy Holidays, see you in 2014!
Well, Persona 5 was announced… What else needs to be said? Hope you enjoy this week’s episode as we recap the entire Atlus countdown. There’s more than enough chibi-dancing-grimdark-localized-SUPLEX-hype goodness to go ’round for everyone.
So of course since it’ll be hard for us to contain our excitement (or potential disappointment) this weekend–We’ve decided to record the 19th Episode of the podcast this Sunday in reaction to whatever is announced.
What do you think is going to be revealed though? If you have a question for this weeks panel or just want to share your thoughts on P5 or whatever else, please let us know in the comments below. We’ll be reading them off on this weeks episode.
A few days ago, Atlus put up a mysterious countdown timer on this webpage. Could this be counting down to the Persona 5 reveal we’ve all been waiting for?
The hype has (potentially) begun, with this countdown timer having gone live– speculation all over the internet has kicked into high gear. We here at S.Link FM are not exempt from the hype. So prepare yourself for some of the wildest predictions we’ve had thus far. From a Persona 3 port to Vita, to evil Yu in Arena, and of course Gabe Newell announcing Persona 5.
Remember though, this episode is purely speculation–even if there’s evidence for the ideas presented. We’re not saying for certain that any of the games mentioned in this episode are going to come into fruition and be revealed on November 24th.
Well it was a very long time coming, but at last our much talked about Shin Megami Tensei IV episode has arrived. Also for once big news hit BEFORE we actually recorded the podcast. So along with our SMT IV talk, we also add our speculation/thoughts on what the SEGA acquisition means for Atlus. Armada breaks down the themes of chaos, free will and how they are used in SMT IV–all the while imploring we all play Strange Journey. Jello and cjkeats emphasize the importance of press turn. While our guest Romscout sheds some light on SMT’s past and current entries. This is this first of (hopefully) many more episodes jumping into the larger Shin Megami Tensei lexicon, hope you enjoy it!
Once and a while the formalities need to be laid to rest and casual discussion needs to occur. In this episode we discussed the rumors that were surrounding a potential reveal of Persona 5 at E3 2013. We also talked about our favorite non-Persona/SMT related games from the show too. We assure you, S.Link FM is not becoming a general gaming podcast. This episode was recorded more to hold people over till the juicier episodes in the future arrive.
