S.Link FM Signing Off

Well friends, it has been quite a while since the last update, hasn’t it? There’s a good reason for that, and it is that I’ve decided to finally end the podcast.

After 3+ years and 74 episodes, the time has finally come to say our farewells. While this announcement may be a bit sudden, I’m sure all of you saw this coming. It has been several months since the last episode without much of a word, and for that, I apologize. I went back and forth in my head for a long time whether or not I wanted to continue making the podcast, and my heart just isn’t into the production aspect anymore.

Which brings us to this post, some of you might be wondering ‘why don’t you do a final episode?’ and the reason is (again) if my head and my heart aren’t into it anymore; I can’t force myself to do it. That’s it really.

With that out of the way, I’d like to thank a few people that helped make S.Link FM what is it today. We’ve had so many amazing guests over the years, from John Hardin to Karen Strassman, to Dacidbro and LordKnight; it’s been a trip and I thank everyone that came on and gave us the time of day.

Now I’d like to personally thank each and every co-host I’ve had on here. Cheska, Serah, Ron, Andrea, and Armada. It was always a total pleasure recording and talking about games with these folks, and they’re the big reason I kept coming back year after year. They’re all incredible people and some of my closest friends. Love all of you.

Finally, I’d like to thank the listeners. Without your feedback and support, this podcast wouldn’t have lasted a month, let alone nearly 4 years. It still blows my mind that so many people enjoyed the podcast and stuck with it. S.Link FM was never giant or anything, but we had an audience; something I started had an audience. Never did I think a creative endeavor of mine would have fans, but lo and behold here we are. I can’t thank you all enough for tuning in, sending questions, and listening to the show over the years.

I’m never good at goodbyes, and I’ve never had to write something like this before either. So instead of rambling on, I’ll end it with how it started: See you all in the Velvet Room.

Update: itunes, future episodes, and announcements!

Over the past few days we’ve been bombarded with a plethora of positive feedback over our most recent episode Mind Games and I can’t thank you enough for it. The Podcast has grown exponentially in only a few short weeks and it’s very humbling, than you all so much for listening to it! Now it’s time to move on to the exciting announcements.

First off, S.Link FM is now officially available on the itunes storeIt was long overdo, but now you can easily search and subscribe to the show on itunes. Hopefully this will help us reach a wider audience and make it easier to find the podcast in general.

Now we’re also restructuring the podcast a bit, and we’ve decided to use a different arrangement of music. The show station ID created by Jintor will remain, but Electronica in the Velvet room will not be in future episodes. However the incredibly talented Doug Farrell has been kind enough to allow us to use his SMT arrangements from now on. You can check out his stuff on his website here, or check out his SMT arrangements on his Youtube channel. Can’t thank Doug enough for allowing S.Link FM to feature his music, check out a sample below!

As for future episode plans, we’ve got some really exciting stuff to announce:

  • First off, the competitive fighting game legend Dacidbro will be be joining us on Episode 6. We plan to go over Persona 4: Arena’s competitive scene, the competitive Catherine movement, and where to get started with fighting games in general. That Episode will be recording on the 17th and will be available soon after.
  • We’re still working on the details for this next one, but in the near future we are very happy to announce that voice actress Erin Fitzgerald will be joining us on the Podcast! Erin voiced Chie Satonaka in Persona 4 The Golden, Persona 4 Arena, and Persona 4 The Animation. We’re overjoyed that Erin is willing to come chat with us about her career as a voice actress, and more specifically about her role as Chie in Persona. More details about that episode in the coming days.

Finally we’ll be taking your questions on the podcast from now on, so next Monday I’ll put up a questions post for Episode 6 with DacidBro. Hope you all have some good stuff ready for Dacidbro!

Site update, current events, and future Podcast plans!

This has been quite the week for S.Link FM, after all the site has now officially been up and active for a week! (Well thereabouts anyways)

We actually got quite a bit of traffic this week, seeing that the podcast was shared all over sites like 4chan, reddit, Penny Arcade, and of course NeoGAF is very encouraging. I’m sure that shidoshi sharing the LGBT diversity episode also helped quite a bit as well, that was probably our best episode to date. Not to mention getting out 2 episodes within 5 days of each other probably helped a bunch too!

So on to the future, currently we have a few ideas for new shows:

  • Exploring the mysticism and philosophy behind the series and the various Persona’s
  • A look at the competitive fighting scene behind P4: Arena with a special guest we have lined up
  • A look at the events in P4: Arena’s story mode and the impact it’s had on the overarching Persona storyline

We’re open to suggestions and requests from the listeners as to what particular topics you’d like to hear us discuss, in fact if there’s something you’d like to come on to the podcast yourself and discuss, then by all means please do! Contacts us by either leaving a comment, tweeting us @SLinkFM, or email us at s.linkfmpodcast@gmail.com. We’re always open to bringing on fellow SMT/Persona fans!

Finally, yes we know the site is not very easy on the eyes currently. Thankfully though, some incredibly talented artist’s working on banners, backgrounds, and show title cards for us.

I’m going to be on vacation for the next week so if I don’t get back to you right away don’t worry about it, in time I will get back to you.
