Save Point: 2015 Wrap up

Well here we are, nearly at the end of another year, 2015 went by a bit quick, didn’t it? With that, I figured we should give you a bit of a status update on the state of the show.

Recently a questions post went up for an ‘open world’ episode of the show. We were originally going to record an episode on that topic on the 13th of November, but everyone here’s pretty busy with life, so we’ve got to put that topic on hold for now. Sorry we couldn’t get to it this month, but it’s a busy fall for everyone. However we’ll return to it in the new year, so your questions wont go unanswered!

As for the rest of the year, we plan to do our annual holiday special and game of the year episode in early December! Thank for sticking with us, we have some pretty awesome listeners.

Save Point: S.Link FM in 2015 thus far

Good day S.Link FM fans and listeners. We’re four Episodes into our new RPG centric focus, and it’s been such a wonderful breath of fresh air for the team here, and will only continue to invigorate us.

As part of the new format, I thought it would be a good idea to do a ‘status update’ post once and a while to let you all know what we’re planning for upcoming episodes. So, from now on “Save Point” will be that status update.

The next episode will more than likely be the much alluded to Mass Effect podcast. Where we plan to discuss our favorite moments, what the series means to us, and many other things. We also have a couple special guest episodes in the works too, more details on those as plans solidify.

Thank you all so much for the kindness and support, we may be a small show, but we’ve got some truly wonderful fans.

Persona 5 “Seek Emancipation” trailer released (April Fools!)

personer2 Our very own TrueSelf seems to have stumbled upon something huge today. In what was just supposed to be a search to find the Persona 5 announcement trailer, he found a NEW trailer for Persona 5– one that not only highlights a new grim tone to the project, but even unveils a release date for the game! From the YouTube description:

Someone is coming, crawling back from the Sea of Souls… But will he use his power to bring about absolute Order, or ultimate Chaos? Use your bonds of friendship to break free from the shackles of life– only the power of Persona can save, or doom, all of humanity!

Get ready for the game IGN calls “The Dark Souls II of Shin Megami Tensei”– Persona 5 is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo 3DS on March 17, 2015! Seek Emancipation and pre-order today to receive the “Grimdark Costume Pack” and “Dante Must Die Mode,” exclusively from GameStop!

This is pretty unbelievable news, no one expected Persona 5 to actually go in this direction. After all, Persona 4 was all “Scooby Doo”– this, on the other hand, is very mature and grown up. The Persona game we all wanted is coming.

This trailer is very dark, and violent. So please be aware that this is a NSFW kind of trailer.

Persona 5 may finally be revealed this weekend, what are your thoughts?

Per5ona

By this time next week we’ll all either be celebrating the long awaited announcement of Persona 5, or there’ll be mountains of salt as far as the eye can see. It’s looking more than likely that it’s the former, as both Persona5.jp and the mysterious countdown site  p-ch.jp now share the exact same IP address. You can go ahead and even test this yourself with a ping test or traceroute command.

So of course since it’ll be hard for us to contain our excitement (or potential disappointment) this weekend–We’ve decided to record the 19th Episode of the podcast this Sunday in reaction to whatever is announced.

What do you think is going to be revealed though? If you have a question for this weeks panel or just want to share your thoughts on P5 or whatever else, please let us know in the comments below. We’ll be reading them off on this weeks episode.

Yet again, as Mr.Buffer would say…

Update: itunes, future episodes, and announcements!

Over the past few days we’ve been bombarded with a plethora of positive feedback over our most recent episode Mind Games and I can’t thank you enough for it. The Podcast has grown exponentially in only a few short weeks and it’s very humbling, than you all so much for listening to it! Now it’s time to move on to the exciting announcements.

First off, S.Link FM is now officially available on the itunes storeIt was long overdo, but now you can easily search and subscribe to the show on itunes. Hopefully this will help us reach a wider audience and make it easier to find the podcast in general.

Now we’re also restructuring the podcast a bit, and we’ve decided to use a different arrangement of music. The show station ID created by Jintor will remain, but Electronica in the Velvet room will not be in future episodes. However the incredibly talented Doug Farrell has been kind enough to allow us to use his SMT arrangements from now on. You can check out his stuff on his website here, or check out his SMT arrangements on his Youtube channel. Can’t thank Doug enough for allowing S.Link FM to feature his music, check out a sample below!

As for future episode plans, we’ve got some really exciting stuff to announce:

  • First off, the competitive fighting game legend Dacidbro will be be joining us on Episode 6. We plan to go over Persona 4: Arena’s competitive scene, the competitive Catherine movement, and where to get started with fighting games in general. That Episode will be recording on the 17th and will be available soon after.
  • We’re still working on the details for this next one, but in the near future we are very happy to announce that voice actress Erin Fitzgerald will be joining us on the Podcast! Erin voiced Chie Satonaka in Persona 4 The Golden, Persona 4 Arena, and Persona 4 The Animation. We’re overjoyed that Erin is willing to come chat with us about her career as a voice actress, and more specifically about her role as Chie in Persona. More details about that episode in the coming days.

Finally we’ll be taking your questions on the podcast from now on, so next Monday I’ll put up a questions post for Episode 6 with DacidBro. Hope you all have some good stuff ready for Dacidbro!

Site update, current events, and future Podcast plans!

This has been quite the week for S.Link FM, after all the site has now officially been up and active for a week! (Well thereabouts anyways)

We actually got quite a bit of traffic this week, seeing that the podcast was shared all over sites like 4chan, reddit, Penny Arcade, and of course NeoGAF is very encouraging. I’m sure that shidoshi sharing the LGBT diversity episode also helped quite a bit as well, that was probably our best episode to date. Not to mention getting out 2 episodes within 5 days of each other probably helped a bunch too!

So on to the future, currently we have a few ideas for new shows:

  • Exploring the mysticism and philosophy behind the series and the various Persona’s
  • A look at the competitive fighting scene behind P4: Arena with a special guest we have lined up
  • A look at the events in P4: Arena’s story mode and the impact it’s had on the overarching Persona storyline

We’re open to suggestions and requests from the listeners as to what particular topics you’d like to hear us discuss, in fact if there’s something you’d like to come on to the podcast yourself and discuss, then by all means please do! Contacts us by either leaving a comment, tweeting us @SLinkFM, or email us at s.linkfmpodcast@gmail.com. We’re always open to bringing on fellow SMT/Persona fans!

Finally, yes we know the site is not very easy on the eyes currently. Thankfully though, some incredibly talented artist’s working on banners, backgrounds, and show title cards for us.

I’m going to be on vacation for the next week so if I don’t get back to you right away don’t worry about it, in time I will get back to you.

Well, it’s about time to say hello!

S.Link FM is a new podcast dedicated to all things related to the critically acclaimed and cult followed Persona series. Created by members of the Persona community from NeoGAF, we intend to go over many topics surrounding the series in each episode. In addition to this, we’ll be inviting a variety of guests and members of the community to join us on future episodes, especially about subjects we feel need to be represented.

S.Link FM Episode 1: Enter the TV

Description: In the very first episode of S.Link FM, we decide to start things off a little casually and go over how each of us got into the Persona series. We decided to do this podcast on a whim last night so I apologize if the first episode seems disorganized. Nonetheless, we manage to talk about how great Persona 2 is, how we got into the series, Persona 4 Arena at EVO2013, Persona 5 speculation, and jello’s utilikilt.

S.Link FM Episode 2: Persona 4-2

Description: The S.Link FM podcast returns to speculate upon hopes, dreams, and what little “info” we have about Persona 5. Our guest Inorigo (@Talespun, writer for GameRanx and RPGSite) chimes in with some great points for your consideration. We ask questions about Persona 5’s combat, social link system, dungeons, cell phones, release date and even what console/handheld it might be on. Will our dreams come true or is S.Link FM a place where dreams go to die? You’ll just have to listen and find out!

Episode 3 will be recording tonight(April 5th) and should be up soon. We’re still working on getting the show on RSS feeds and itunes soon, and the general layout of the S.Link FM site isubject to change in the coming days. Hope you’ll stick around, we’ve got some amazing guests lined up!
